Juliët van Iersel has started as a new PhD candidate in the group of Anne-Marie van Dam, in collaboration with Vivi Heine, at the department of Anatomy and Neurosciences, Amsterdam UMC. The aim of the project is to gain a deeper understanding of the differential role of microglia in white- and gray matter pathology in Multiple Sclerosis. To this end, human iPSC-based models of inflammation and MS will be developed to study microglial functioning in a white- and gray matter like environment.
