Nestled in the Frisian countryside, the fifth edition of the Troppo Breve took place from the 4th to the 7th of July 2024. During the meeting, researchers who are part of the Netherlands Organ-on-Chip Initiative (NOCI) came together from different Dutch universities and shared their progress in organ-on-a-chip related research. In this edition, we proudly watched as senior PhD candidates presented the results of their final projects, while simultaneously welcoming the next generation of NOCI researchers.
During the scientific talks, many aspects of organ-on-a-chip technology were discussed; from the technicalities of chip design and fabrication to the biological applications, including the implementation of stem cell biology in different organ and disease contexts.
Aside from the scientific program, we had the pleasure of sailing on a typical Frisian skûtsje and learning about the local environment from some wildlife experts.
The talks highlighted the collaborative nature of NOCI and opened up new possibilities for multidisciplinary organ-on-chip research across different teams. Keep an eye out for the NOCI LinkedIn page and website for the latest updates.
