Six hDMT researchers successfully defended their doctoral thesis at different Dutch universities. The topics ranged from models for cancer, gut-brain axis, kidney fibrosis and heart, to brain-on-chip mechano-transduction models and integrated sensors for Organ-on-Chip platforms. Several new projects have been granted within hDMT, and awards have been won, including the Hugo van Poelgeest award for research on viral infections using human stem cell-based models.
