Webinar ESAO-IFAO-EUROoCS

On March 16^th 2023 at 12pm (CET), EUROoCS will launch the “Digital Meetings” series in a joint effort with ESAO-IFAO (European Society for Artificial Organs / International Federation for International Organs).

In this occasion, two senior scientists of the EUROoCS community will present their research: Dr Marc Vila Cuenca and Prof. Paola Occhetta.

Marc Vila Cuenca is Senior Post doctoral researcher in the Orlova Lab and CADASIL research group from the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). Marc works with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)-based 3D vessel-on-chip system to model hetero-cellular endothelial and vascular smooth muscle cell cross-talk during development and disease. His research also focuses in developing strategies for engineering organoids with functional vasculature by using vessel-on-chip technology.

Paola Occhetta is Assistant Professor in the MiMic Lab of Politecnico di Milano, as beneficiary of a Cariplo Foundation Grant on osteoarthritis-on-chip and of a Horizon Europe ERC Starting Grant in the field of Organs-on-Chip (OoC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Focus of Paola’s research is the development of OoC-based strategies able to recapitulate human disease models. In her talk she will present cardiac models and their use for advancing therapies.
