Bjorn de Wagenaar returns to start on Moore4Medical program

Wednesday, 23 September

On July 1st, 2020 Bjorn de Wagenaar joined the Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM) group of the Department of Microelectronics of Delft University of Technology, as a postdoc on the Moore4Medical program under the supervision of Massimo Mastrangeli.

"After finishing my master in Biomedical Engineering on the University of Twente, I started a PhD position in the BIOS Lab-on-a-chip group of Prof Albert van den Berg. After 4 great years of interesting research and collaborations, I decided to move towards industry, where I was keen to focus on the translation of innovative technologies and knowledge towards real-life products. In order to do so, I joined Mimetas as a hardware engineer," De Wagenaar explains.

"After 4.5 years being active in product development and production process optimization in the Organ-on-Chip (OoC) field, I realized I moved away too much from my personal drive to innovate. Therefore, the postdoc position is a beautiful opportunity for me, which combines true innovation on the Organ-on-Chip field (Moore4Medical: development of a Smart Multi Well Plate) with activities on the academic level (electrical sensing in OoC devices)."
