Cisca Wijmenga (UMCG) awarded with the UEG Research Prize

Cisca Wijmenga is awarded the distinguished United European Gastroenterology (UEG) Research Prize 2018 for her outstanding work on 'A coeliac mucosal barrier-on-chip model to investigate its role in initiation of coeliac disease'.

The UEG award recognizes excellence in basic science, translational or clinical research and provides €100,000 towards on-going or future research that will have a crucial impact on digestive health.

Cisca Wijmenga received her award during the Opening Session of UEG Week 2018 in Vienna on Monday, October 22, 2018.

Her she tells more about that the gut-on-a-chip that mimics the gut of a coeliac disease patient will be crucial to increase basic understanding of the disease etiology.
