Radboudumc and hDMT kick-off meeting start of fruitful collaboration
Recently, the Radboudumc became a member of the hDMT consortium. On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, the first hDMT meeting took place on the 8th floor of the Radboud Institute of Molecular Life Sciences. Dr. Janny van den Eijnden-van Raaij, managing director of hDMT, kicked-off with an interactive session by introducing the activities of the hDMT and the mutual benefits of this new collaboration.
The meeting was followed by four showcase presentations about Organ-on-Chip research within the Radboudumc, in which Prof. Anneke den Hollander presented her project on Eye-on-Chip, Dr. Jenny van der Wijst on Kidney-on-Chip, Dr. Nael Nadif Kasri talked about his research interest on Brain-on-Chip and Prof. Sander Leeuwenburgh showed how his work on biomaterials for microchips could be used in the Organ-on-Chip technology.
After one hour of active interaction between presenters and audience, the meeting continued with a session of match-making pitches about all ongoing research as well as new ideas. All presenters prepared a few slides to introduce the ongoing research in their groups, which were shown in an informal gathering with drinks and snacks in a very convivial atmosphere.
Finally, we can proudly say that thanks to excellent cooperation of Janny van den Eijnden - van Raaij with all presenters and participants, the Radboudumc kick-off meeting was a big success and similar meetings will be planned regularly to share in-house strengths and to learn about new opportunities for collaborative grant applications with other hDMT partners.
