Monday, 10 December 2018

Groningen welcomes Dr. Anika Nagelkerke, who joined the Groningen Research Institute of Pharmacy (GRIP) of the University of Groningen as a tenure-track Assistant Professor on November 1st 2018. Embedded in the Pharmaceutical Analysis basic unit, Anika's research will focus on in vitro models for advanced drug testing.

Anika Nagelkerke received her post-doctoral training in the groups of Prof. Molly Stevens at Imperial College London, UK (2015-2018), and Prof. Alan Rowan at Radboud University Nijmegen, NL (2014-2015).

Her research interests lie in making truly physiologically relevant models for disease, with emphasis on recreating the heterogeneous tumour microenvironment. She is interested in using the developed models to study the influence of the microenvironment on drug efficacy and metabolism, as well as the potential to develop microenvironment-responsive nanomaterials for targeted drug delivery.
